Create a daily practice
To create a daily practice we need to define a specific work set-up with three things:
Let’s establish a basic variation :
1 - Space : dining room table
2 - Supply : a cup with whatever drawing material you own and papers from your printer.
3 - Time : every day, make yourself a cup of tea and sit at the table to draw. You can draw anything that comes to mind, the main point here is that you draw as long as you drink your tea.
The tea challenge
Draw and drink tea everyday for a week, repeat daily around the same hour to establish a habit.
Above is an example of work done on my dining room table. The idea is that it is more important to stay in the grace of the flow and get work done, than to have a perfect paper or a perfect set up. As you will see there is a search for ideas within the papers pack. it is not an execution mode “I have a plan and I know exactly how it is going to go” Is is more like a learning, curiosity mode : listening, looking and trying to find the next one.
Congratulation! You made your first step towards your having a drawing practice …
