Trust the Process

I wanted to share a little bit about my process.

I start at point A, i think its going to point B, than theres a storm, I have to let go all my ideas and listen to what is happening, not what i wanted it to be. Than I fall into bliss in point C.

Sounds familiar? I bet this happened to you already.

I think the entire Art education should be about learning to trust this process.

One second you are a pro doing your job, in the other you are a drowning sailor. Feeling sea sick, loosing faith in your self, looking for crumbles of logic, what works and than boom, the light in the end of the tunnel…

Here is the process of the last work, it illustrate it so beautifully.

It started here, what a nice perfect universe where everything makes sense

Than drops came into play the waves were high and no one new if we were going to get out in one pieace

Than the sun came, I relaized that by doubeling the lines i can get a clearer image. I still got to keep the vibration of the drops but they are contained.

To my surprise, I started basket weaving the overlaps, because the lines are so wide. in the end I felt like I was in an Esher painting, tring to connect all the lines to some kind of continuity.

Now we are in the knot theory land. Now I sit and look at the line, trying to understand what goes were.

There are two loops intertwined here.

This was a great ride.

This one and a bunch of other big B&W works will be exhibited in Dallas university in February 2024. Together with the colourful work of Lizzie Scott, under the curating eye of Jacqueline Sterling from Gut Gallery its going to be amazing.

I will keep you updated.

Italy floor project

Hallo Friends, I promised I will tell you how Italy went. Well, it went great.

I loved talking shop with Tilman. I loved eating pesto gnocchi, did you know they serve it with green beens and tiny potatoes cubes? It was a first for me.

I loved the nature, the familier lines of olive trees and grapes on the hillside. I was very impressed by the sweet peas that grows wild on the road side with it’s outbursting pinks just like that, who knew.

It was constantly raining so we didnt visit the beach this time, but honestly, there was so much work dealing with the floor, it was for the best.

I enjoy a good creative struggle. I only had three days to get it right with this 18x5 cement floor, and I finally felt like I came close.

The pleasure of working with marble dust is that it comes off easily. So I literally redid the entire space three times till I had a better idea of what works.

When I draw live in front of people I always feel like some of them really want to draw too. This time there was a blond little angel in the crowd, that her gaze was so deep, I couldn’t help it but letting her draw a line with me. You can see her strolling with her mother in the picture above.

This led me to thinking about creating a workshop for floor marble dust. I still dont know where and when, (let me know if you have any ideas) but I will keep you posted.

Coming up this weekend, A floor work at DAC Italy.

Tilman, the artist curator behind DAC came up with the title, I think it is very becoming.

A journey to Italy. how nice. I love going there, because its only three hours away from Marseille, and yet so perfectly different in every little way. Starting with amazing coffee, and the food market in Ventimiglia. look it up, its gorgeous. I promise to send beach photos..

The show is in a village up in the mountain called Dolceaqua, meaning sweet water. after the river that pass through it. Thats also the name of the series Im going to hang there

look it up here

The space is a renovated Mussolini bunker overlooking France, From the time it was a war border. I find it to be a great idea. transform war facilities to art spaces. Whats more perfect than that? What do you think?

More on how it came out next time.
